If you can't browse a directory, you need to add the ".htaccess" file to the directory.

1) Copy the "invisible.htaccess.txt" file to the directory.
2) Rename it to ".htaccess".

The ".htaccess" file is some kind of Unix security file that contains nothing but the following - though it could contain more information about who can access and how, but I don't know how to do it at that level.
